Gargoyles and Drawing Games

At Alston Hall in lancashire, for the Contemporary Quilt Summer School
Drawiing games most of the day, with Isobel Dibden-Wright, and fun had by all.. I cannot recommend this sort of weekend too highly - you get to play all day, no cooking, and the surroundings are totally delicious.. Alston Hall is a Victorian Gothick house of great charm and numerous jolly spirally gargoyles, corbels and finials
More later..

Shy Young Boy

He came strolling gently along as we were sitting in the summer-house drinking tea.. Shy, timid, not very clued-up about humans, perhaps.. The double-take when he came by the door and saw us was delightful, and of course, I didn't want to scare him by getting my camera out of its case.. Off he went into the front garden, mooched around for a few minutes, then came back, by which time I was ready to capture his gentle charm
This year has seen a lot of young hares, mostly, and sadly, flattened on the road.  This one is fine for now, and always welcome...

This morning's thunderstorm...

...was good for the gardens

This slightly soggy poppy exposing her stamens to the sky in the Quaker Hall garden was just delicious
