Word for The Year 2023...

 ...is UNCOVER

As the house has developed strata of a singularly archeological character...

Happy New Year!

Either I was up earlier, or the sunrise was

Moonrise

                                                        Cold, but lovely

All my old work books, order books, and assorted trashy paper removed, and burned. A weight off my mind and my attic...

Drunk Baby

HB and I went to a little quilt show near Ely in the summer, and I sat at my Singer 99k hand crank and made the Improv Drunkards Path blocks for this baby quilt... Rather fun, and I'm just about to light the fire and finish the binding...

I have this theory that babies are born drunk, which is why they are incomprehensible-of-speech and tend to stagger about until about the age of two, when they finally sober up... And this is why the "terrible twos" happen, as they have the most stonking hangover...

One charm-pack of Grunge Spot and about two metres of Oakshott Longshott in grey - I think this may have all gone...
Pattern soon

Aaaargh

Broke, and tired, and too much mess, and too many people asking for impossible things and then being cross because I don't have them, and bloody Brexit has shafted my business, and postal strikes likewise, and I'm hurting, and I've absolutely had enough...

And I'm lonely and so so tired.. And cold. Going to bed

Sunday 11 December 2022

Walking to the Library, Webbed Walls and Garlanded Gates

Lovely!
Unbeweavable

Corners and posts
And my lovely Rowan Tree shimmering
If I drew this you would say it was much too fanciful...
Busy spiders everywhere...

Sparkling Morning

Frosty, frosty, birds need feeding...

8:30 am, sun just rising, crisply crispy everywhere...

Sunday 4 December 2022

Been kicking the blogiverse...

And reviving our Modern Art Quilters blog HERE as it's been languishing a bit. We decided to spend a 3-month period on each of our internet places to see which is most useful starting with the blogs...

And today's work (apart from loading two car-fulls of machines onto Clova's back) was to make some blocks for a new BOM to be promoted on Treadleon which badly needs a deal of tweaking, perhaps with a Big Stick.. Oh, so much to do, and so little energy... Sigh

November Lights

After rain
In the summerhouse
And comfy cat. The rug finally reached the end of its indoor life, but the cat doesn't mind...

Mini Spiral, as promised

Sunday 16 October 2022

Well, that went less-than-well

ETA, lost my car for 11 weeks in total. Brexit!

Car exploded on the motorway. Ouch. And the cost will be a double-ouch. I did play my little-old-lady-disabled-and-alone card to good effect and got brought home by the nice man from the AA...

Currently running around in Abi's little diesel Citroen, which is just enough like mine and just enough unlike mine to be disconcerting.. And it's a boy... Sigh

Cat is enjoying a little Autumn sun

However, that's the compost bin. Every now and again the lid tips her neatly into the contents, at which point she pointedly sulks...
Getting a little on top of the garden - the grass grew enough to cut finally, and I've been sorting hedges and cutting out brambles and weeding and such
And teaching - having not taught Spiral Quilt for about 7 years, three times in the last fortnight... Makes sorting samples easy
Here's one I made recently, I'll put the mini up soon

As Promised, More Productivity

Well, it rained, somewhat, and I didn't get out to pick these till today

Wee marrow
So far, 5 baskets of cherries and two of gooseberries - I think I am almost half-way with the cherries. All need picking over, processing, and freezing, but this is a whole winter's worth of Mad Jam Lady in the making
And while it was raining, I made an altar. House and I needed this...
In my sewing room, on the old mantlepiece

And, this is my 600th post on this blog. Must do better...

Wednesday 29 June 2022

Look what the garden gave me!

Tonight, cherries and gooseberries!

Astounding Evening Light

Last night's thunderstorms cleared the air so nicely, and the garden is happy for the rain. This evening, the light was just amazing

To the Beach

because it was unbearably hot and sticky. First Light Festival was setting up, so, not terribly peaceful, but I dipped my toes in the sea and walked along the edge.

Fingers and Thumb...

...are all numb.. A trapeziectomy, removal of a small arthritic and very painful bone...

Two weeks of bandage and no driving, then stitches out... If this is at all succesful, I get the other side done later..

Meantime, totally numb from the shoulder down, which is Most Curious
