Here we are - actually out and trading and talking to quilters!

Having had a fantastically busy and productive couple of weeks (a deadline is a most wonderful incentive) we have arrived at the Wickham Market School for the Cotton Club Show - tomorrow (Saturday, 10 till 4) and Sunday (10 till 2) - do come and play

Been Busy...

....finishing stuff to take to the Scottish Quilting Show in Glasgow, we travel next week and have been making new patterns, packing kits and fabric packs, and, of course, finishing quilts. Packed this morning to go off for the competitions, and I'm not going to show the whole of mine, however, the cat has been helping...

I think she really likes this one...

Veldhoven, Day Four

 Not so many images today, I'll save some for later in the week.  Above is Blossome 3 by Eti David of Israel.. There are several very good Israeli artists here, and all seem to have a superb colour-sense. I really like the simple and strong quilting lines on this one too..

 Next, Intimate Space by Paula Chung of the USA.  This one really strikes a chord with my ragged teeth..

 This one was a prizewinner last year.  Memory in My Heart by Kim Jong Hye from Korea.
I love the freely pieced greens and the delicacy of the flowers.  A big piece with grace and good style

Veldhoven Day Three

In no order again..
I'm too mean to pay for quick internet
Apple Tree Moon
 This one (above) nearly didn't make it.  A sticky fingermark while the quilt was being quilted led to a Washing Moment.  I tried to rinse; no joy and a yellow ring, so the whole thing went into the washing machine with it's raw edges sticking out.. And came out clean but utterly covered in tiny bits of batting (note to self - Use The Overlocker!)  Finished en route in the hotel and looking pretty much OK,  Phew!

 Backs of two quilts.. I tend to calico, for reasons of cheapness and reliability (IKEA, very good stuff), but I've been trying to Use It Up..  The pale  green I have had for at least 25 years.. Only 36 inches wide, so pieced with leftover blocks from the front.. The red is an ikat weave which shrank over 25% and ran for 10 washes, but is beautifully soft and slightly heavier than quilt weight, so nice to sew..

 My neighbour is Yemima Lavan from Israel.. Most of my photos (done in a hurry) failed, but this is Rust Bitter Sweet - screen printed, pieced, rusted, Shrinked and utterly wonderful

 This is huge.. Made by a Swiss group, I think, of Berne? I must check.. It's abot 5 metres high and hangs incredibly well.. The blocks were all made by different members of the group

Veldhoven Part 1

 Well, so far, so splendid.. Last night's Travelodge was hidden down a back lane marked "No Entry" and was fusty, but cheap.. Here I am at the NH Konigshof which is one of the better places I have stayed in my travels.. I have had a small sleep, a swim, and supper, and I'm happy.. My quilts are being hung by tall pretty Dutch ladies, and I have a bookbinding class tomorrow..
The grounds are delightful, wooded and not at all formal.. Blackbird above was exploring next to my car and not offended by the camera.

The journey down was marked by the most astounding trees, all misty and multi-coloured with new Spring growth.. Unfortunately, Belgian and Dutch motorways have very few stopping-places in the woods, so no pictures.
