A Summer Voyage Around My Garden

Birds a-plenty, including at least two young woodpeckers

Collared doves

House plants are out getting fresh air and exercise, while the windowsills get an airing

Jay

Lady blackbird and chaffinch

Marguerites self-seeded by the washing-line lawn

Strawberries

Poppies

Geraniums and honeysuckle

Another jay

Assorted tits

Poppies again

Hose-plant holiday camp

Collared dove and male blackbird

Lettuces

Mock-orange

More assorted birds

Pink roses and self-seeded poppies by the woodshed
All is green, exuberant, and smells so nice...
Not shown (but maybe later) the freshly-mown lawns and strimmed edges, new (wonky) burning-waste bin, vegetables and soft fruits...

Week of Silk

As those of you who read this blog will know, I tend to have occasional "weeks of" and this week I am concentrating on silk in all it's shimmery glory. Unusually, I have invited people to join me, but this has been of mixed utility.. Today was pretty good, however
So, so far, I have made some purses
of which this is a small selection
And some truly tiny blocks

..some of which I have made into a little quilt (approximately 8 inches square) - the blocks are 3 inches before joining and are foundation-pieced on calico

and a degree of mess, of course

Also some book covers, not yet finished, and sundry oddments

And come to a realisation that I may not live long enough to use all this silk at this rate of titchiness
