Demolished - Post Office Privatisation?

I've been exchanging hand-made postcards for many years, pretty much at random - I find one on the mat and send one back by return.. I have a boxfull, some of which have been gently modified by the post office in passing.. Never one quite like this, though (note, I have scuffed the return address deliberately in Photoshop..)
I'm sending one back, hope it arrives cleaner than this..

Quilters Guild Region 9 Area Day

Quilters’ Guild Norfolk Area Day

Well, it may have been raining outside, but at Fleggburgh Village Hall all was sunny inside.. Forty quilters of all ages and stages had a sociable and satisfying day at the Norfolk Quilters’ Guild Area Day

We started with tea, and Star Blocks, and there was much puzzling over and sorting-out of the kits cut by Heather Hasthorpe.. Each had three carefully-selected fabrics in ready-cut pieces, and an instruction sheet.. By lunchtime, there were a whole set of delightful Star Blocks, each a little different from the last

After soups and sandwiches, we reconvened for a little hand-stitching.. Helen  Howes’ colourful hand-dyed wool pieces, with multicoloured threads, beads, buttons and bits, made brooches as individual as the makers..
The afternoon was only interrupted by lashings of cake and more tea, a seriously good raffle, and the Competition winner (Sewing Sundries) which was a very close-run vote, as the entries were so excellent..

Our trader (Rob, from Sew and Sos in Bungay) was busy most of the day, and several biggish piles of fabric went home for next month’s projects

And the Guild has gained a new member, so that’s a result, too..

Heather and I are planning another Area Day in the spring, with a Contemporary Quilt theme..

Sorting Stuff

Today's post brought these.  Bought on Fleabay in the last couple of days, and in need of cataloguing, counting, packing, and uploading to my Sewing Machines Website
This is a surprisingly big part of my life, and is my third 10,000 hours skill (google that up, please, that's a skill too) of a pretty busy lifetime so far.
A typical sort is like the one above - parts from one or two machines, many of which will be repeats (and therefore will have stock numbers to assign) and some of which will be unique, or the sort of item that needs a separate image as condition varies so much on some things..
Here's a basketful I sorted and photographed this Summer.  Odd feets (nothing unique in here, I hope..)
Sorted into types, and some needing testing put aside.  I test everything I can on a 1928 Singer treadle.. (That's for Low Shank feet).  I also have a High Shank Singer (31k15) treadle industrial, and when I have  Slant Shank machines here I test everything madly on those too..
I lay them out in sorts, count and catalogue and put away in  tins..

And every unique item needs a packet, a number, a price, and a photograph, notes made of part numbers and sizes, putting on the database, and uploading to the website

Not a job for the unfernickety..

I'm always happy to ID odd feet and attachments, please email me with an image

Oh, and here are the other things you almost always find in sewing machine drawers.. Yes, that's a razor blade.  Watch your fingers..
I commonly find three different (and incompatible) sorts of bobbins in the drawer too..
Usually the suspender buttons are singles..

Shadows and sunlight

On the back of a quilt hanging in the workshop, the kite tail makes its mark in daylight
And in the Tesco car-park, this willow is gently turning to yellow as the Autumn slides in
On the other hand, this minor slip-of-the-Photoshop makes for a more exacting colour-change
Control-Alt-I for the curious..

Physiotherapy

A gentle walk in the sunshine - good for the knee
Blackberries to pick - reaching up and down, using the banged-up hands gently, stepping on and off the banks, good for the knee, the hands, the tired back..
And the tastebuds..
A little photography, some sunshine, a light breeze.. Good for the mind..
Now I'm exhausted..

Pain and Suffering

It's soooo hard to ignore that drawer.. Full of meeces, I bet..
Antiques market today.. Really Hard Work, as so many people are not up on my news, and those who are just want to talk about it.. I can only deal with so much sympathy; particularly as, to quote "I aten't dead"

My 15 minutes..

...seems to have become more like an hour..
However, as this blog is firmly titled "Does Not Equal", and one of my "does nots" is a particular distaste for the Press's liking for assigning ages - Mary (147) seems as offensive to me as Mary (nice tits) and statuses to women ("Mother of two"? Really? is that ALL?) in a way that just does not happen if a protagonist is male or famous or perhaps young, I'm about to tell all the media to go away and leave me in peace to heal.

And then I may sulk..

I had to have my bacon cut up for me at breakfast yesterday, which is SO demeaning..

On the other hand, being washed by one's Favourite Man is fine ...

On the other other hand, if you've emailed me or sent a card or just read this and shuddered, THANK YOU for caring.  (I wish I had more hands)  Hey, want to hear the sound of one hand not clapping?

I'm really damned glad to be here, and alive and still breathing.  Even with a fantastically painful knee and an unusable hand and scabs and scrapes and bits of glass all over and no red car, still glad

This morning, in the deli, I looked and saw this wonderful shadow, and my Inner Artist grabbed me by the scruff of the neck and said "hey! camera; take picture..."

Aren't those curves delicious?
Bless you all, and may your luck be ever good..

Last Gasp of the Big Red Car

On the way to Wolterton Hall with Heather, to do the Costume and Textile Fair, i was savagely attacked by a falling oak tree.  The resulting chaos; road closed, 9 hours in A and E,  damaged tendons, and completely written-off car..
And 6 weeks in a cast/splint
Oh, bugger...

Updated Sunday 15th.  Sore but still alive, and frustrated by the cast.. The cat slept on me all night to "look after" me.  I'm not going to be able to work at all well, and all this is going to cost a fortune.. Grrr
On the other hand, my blog stats have been good..

On The Beach, On The Road

Sands End, North Yorkshire, Old rebar in concrete, worn by the wind and tide, and adorned with scraps of cloth and string..
I'm on the road to the Highlands, to drum for a Dance..
